Travelling to Canada from Sri Lanka during Covid-19 pandemic

I was not actually planning to write an article about my return trip to Canada, but with the positive responses I’ve been getting on my first two articles, I thought it’ll be good if I share this experience and someone might find it useful.

So when I left Canada for Sri Lanka, I booked a round trip because I had a return date planned. But when I was in Sri Lanka, the whole time the country was either under curfew or there were travel restrictions. So I couldn’t attend to things I was planning on. Because some of those things were family matters, I thought of extending my stay for a bit longer and after getting confirmation from my work, I started the process of extending my stay. This came with changing my return ticket too.

The same travel agent who helped me with my trip to Sri Lanka looked into all the possible options and suggested a date that will best suit my needs. So I re-booked my return flight with a hefty amount paid as the rescheduling fees. Since my transit was in Dubai, the only hiccup was at the time I re-booked my travel back, there was a ban for passengers who are coming from Sri Lanka. But my agent said that it will be lifted soon, so let’s wait it out. Luckily two weeks before my trip, the ban was lifted.
